Oliver Stone's W. Movie Poster * JOSH BROLIN & RICHARD DREYFUSS * 4' x 6' Rare 2008 NEW : Huge Wall Size 4' wide by 6' high : Original Official U.S. Advance Release Advertising Poster for the October 17th 2008 selected theater release of the much anticipated film from controversial filmmaker Oliver Stone " W. " featuring a series of surreal yet strangely realistic portrait graphics of Josh Brolin as George W. Bush. " W. " ( pronounced "dub-ya") is a 2008 American satirical biographical film based on the life and presidency of George W. Bush. It was produced and directed by Oliver Stone, written by Stanley Weiser, and stars Josh Brolin as President Bush. Stone compares his goal for W. to the approach of The Queen (2006) and his own Nixon (1995). Filming began on May 12, 2008, in Louisiana and the film was released on October 17.George W. Bush (Josh Brolin) goes through an abusive alcoholic pledge test by fellow Yale students. Bush is able to name all of the pledged students in the dorm and states that he is a legacy with no interest in following his father's footsteps. Soon after Bush goes to jail for being rowdy during a football game, his father (James Cromwell) states that he will help his son but does not want to have to again. Bush quits his oil rig job after his boss complains about an extra break he takes. Bush is accepted into Harvard Business School and goes to tell his parents, but drunk he wishes instead to fight his father who is not pleased to see him intoxicated. Bush later talks to his son and is not happy over his incapability to keep a job, George W. Bush expresses interest in being a baseball manager. George W. Bush plays poker and tells his friends that he wants to run for Congress (one of his friends mention that Bush's father should run for president against Ronald Reagan). At a barbecue Bush meets Laura Welch (Elizabeth Banks), his future wife. Bush is criticized by his opponent that he is not a citizen of Texas and has spent campaign contributions to throw an alcoholic party to minors. Bush does poorly in the debate and does not win the election although he gets the highest number of votes for a Republican candidate for the county's history. Bush becomes a born again Christian and is able to finally give up alcohol. Bush is asked by his father to help him in his campaign for president. George complains that he only was asked because Jeb was busy, George H. W. Bush is elected President. Karl Rove (Toby Jones) mentions that George W. Bush has done nothing. George W. Bush, feeling inferior, doubts he will ever be remembered. George W. Bush becomes owner of the Texas Rangers. President George H. W. Bush and his administration over see the victory of the Gulf War in 100 hours but decides not to invade Iraq and stop Saddam Hussein. President George H. W. Bush does not win the 1992 election, George W. Bush blames his father for not overthrowing Hussein as the reason. George W. Bush decides to run for Governor of Texas despite his mother and father's disapproval. George Bush dreams of himself being a baseball player and catching a fly ball in the outfield. Bush wins the election and decides in 2000 to run for president believing God wants him to. Bush becomes president of the United States. Bush begins plans to invade Iraq, labeling America's enemies the Axis of evil. Bush searching for evidence that Hussein is creating nuclear weapons during 2002 and has the army prepared. Bush's staff supports the president with the exception of Colin Powell (Jeffrey Wright) who tries to convince president Bush not to. Colin Powell is pressured and eventually speaks to the UN explaining the US reasons for war with Iraq. During this time Bush is able to get aid from U.K. prime minister Tony Blair. In March 2003 Iraq is invaded and at first the war is a success with the Iraqi army defeated and a statue of Saddam Hussein torn down as a symbol of the Iraqis freedom from the dictator. Bush declares on a Naval Aircraft Carrier that the mission has succeeded. But as the war continues the people become angrier at the President. Bush is outraged when he discovers that all of his evidence was false and that Hussein was truly a man who threatened America but did not expect Bush to take actions. Bush has a nightmare in which his father wishes to fight his son angry and accusing him of ruining the Bush name and that it was Jeb Bush who was supposed to be the next Bush president. Bush has his 2004 State of the Union and states that "Either you're with us, or you're for the terrorists." Bush is asked in a press conference what he would take back as President and Bush is simply speechless. In a dream the President is a baseball player again and hears a ball hit to the outfield but Bush cannot find the ball. Many who have reviewed Stone's controversial contemporary satire point to both Josh Brolin as President George W. Bush , and Richard Dreyfuss as Vice President Dick Cheney , as potential Oscar contenders for their stand-out performances and uncanny embodiment of their characters. Christian Bale was originally cast by Stone and spent months researching the role, but he dropped out after he was not satisfied with the prosthetic makeup tests. Stone remarked, "Christian’s a very methodical actor and he has to have the makeup thing work for him." With Brolin's casting at the "last minute", he spent months working on Bush's distinctive vocal style, calling hotels in Texas and talking to the people at the front desk, listening to their accents. The actor has also watched video of Bush walking. Brolin said, "It changes over the years, how he walks in his 30s, how he walks in foreign lands, before 9/11 and afterward. People hold their emotions in their bodies. They can't fake it. Especially him."
