William Control * HATE CULTURE * Music Poster 2' x 3' Rare 2008 Mint New Condition. Large Wall Size measures 24" inches wide by 26" inches high. Original Advance Release Poster for the October 2008 release of the Album " Hate Culture ". Who is William Control ? William "wiL" Francis is the lead vocalist of the Goth Punk band Aiden. William Roy Francis was born in Seattle, Washington. During his early years, Wil (also known as Cheesdude) had an interest in music inspired by bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers but only really began to take it seriously after he started to join bands at 13. Recently in an interview with Kerrang! Magazine, he admitted that he had planned a massacre that he was going to commit in Seattle's University District on New Year's Eve, 1999. He claimed his means of carrying out this massacre was "a backpack full of guns". He said he was lonely and violent enough to carry it out because of the life he had lived. He went to jail and upon release decided it was time for him to turn his life around. He wrote a letter of apology to his mother for all the bad times he made her go through (inspiration for the song "Genetic Design For Dying") and took part in a 6 month rehabilitation course. Through his teenage years some of his favorite bands included Nirvana, NOFX, Red Hot Chili Peppers, HIM, The Misfits, and Bad Religion' but during Wil's years dabbling with drugs he was no longer active within a band and only began re-playing guitar during his rehabilitation as a form of therapy and it developed from there. Clean from drugs, Wil joined a band called "Youth At Risk" which occasionally supported the metal-core band Himsa. Prior to "Youth At Risk" he played in a band named "Spontaneous Combustion" in which he played guitar and sang. When Wil joined Aiden he originally played bass but took over as lead singer after the original vocalist quit. He now also plays guitar full-time in the band after their secondary guitarist was fired in spring of 2008. Wil has also shown his reliance on friendship. The song Silent Eyes from the Rain in Hell EP was written about Bayside drummer, John 'Beatz'. whilst on tour with Aiden, Hawthorne Heights and Silverstein, the Bayside bus flipped on a patch of black ice. 'Beatz' died due to severe injuries. He is working on a side solo project called William Control, influenced by futurepop bands like VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, and the New Wave legends Depeche Mode. "This character of William Control was a manifestation of things that happened in my life," explained Francis in an October 2008 Suicide Girls interview. Also in the December 2008 issue of Alternative Press, he had stated, "It's about how I have no control in almost every aspect of my life". "In a way I feel that I am William Control a lot of the time." Francis claimed the record was written from "desperation" and "hopelessness," and that writing it was cathartic and therapeutic. "I don't have a vice that I use to cover it up like alcohol, or drugs. I have nothing to cover up my despair. I was going to tie a belt around my neck or I was going to make a fucking record. Those were my options. And so once again, music saved my life, like it's done over and over again." His debut full-length is titled 'Hate Culture' and was released on October 28, 2008 through Victory Records. He has released a clip called 'Taste' and a preview of the song 'Strangers'. The song 'Beautiful Loser' from the album went on sale on iTunes on October 7th, 2008.
